NASENI Research Council Team Pays Working Visit To ELDI, Awka.

In a bid to reposition the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure to actualise its dream as the leading industrial and innovation hubs of the 21st century, the research council team paid a working visit to the Electronics Development Institute (ELDI), Awka, today, Wednesday, August 28, 2024. The team serves as an advisory body set up by the insistence of the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the agency to actualise its vision anchored on 3Cs principles of Collaboration, Creation and Commercialisation. Speaking, Dr. Patrick Okwu who was the representative of the team appreciated the EVC for the thoughtfulness of assemblage of the team, adding that the team was birthed to advise the management of the agency on technical matters. He praised the EVC for prioritising the welfare of the staff, describing his welfare interventions as life saving. Dr. Okwu emphasized that the EVC has achieved a lot of collaborations tailored for the overall good of the agency and encouraged the institute to continue to leave lasting impressions through output. He noted that every development institute should have finished products for commercialisation in order to generate revenues for the agency. Speaking further, Dr. Okwu said that ELDI has achieved tremendous progress under the Overseeing Officer, Engr. Dr. Oluwaseyi Ogungbenro, adding that the institute has continued to be relevant and is being intentional about the products to produce and commercialize. He urged the Overseeing Officer to collaborate and synergize with other heads of institutes for effectiveness and efficiency. Welcoming the team, Engr. Dr. Oluwaseyi Ogungbenro appreciated the EVC for his visionary and innovative leadership, stating that he has continued to etch his name in the heart of the staff of the agency since his assumption of office. He acknowledged that the institute was glad to welcome its Immediate Past Managing Director, Engr. Dr. P. I. Okwu, describing it as a homecoming. He noted that the institute has many products that have been developed over the years and also a lot of research and development work ready to go into the market. While assuring that the institute would continue to make the agency proud, the Overseeing Officer pleaded for improved availability of funds for the smooth running of the institute. Continuing, Dr Ogungbenro noted that the institute's 5W bulb remains one of the best in the market and that ELDI has just finished production of over 20,000 pieces. He emphasised that the institute is presently collaborating with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) for publicity which is aimed at generating revenues for the agency. Highlighting the other institute's finished products, Dr. Ogungbenro listed Naseni solar generator (1KVA), Automated Poultry Management System, Electronics Science Trainer, Electronics Compact Medical Testing System, VIP Lounge Table Wireless Phone Charger, Phone Charger, Solar Lighting System among others. On her part, the institute's Head of Department of Technological Business Development (TBD), Mrs. Ossai Blessing, reminded the agency of the need for training of the department's staff on the technicalities of marketing. The climax of the visit was showcasing and demonstration of the institute's finished products to the representative of the agency's research council team.
